Imagine… hot summer, scalding sun, lying on a sandy beach the Canary Islands, admiring the view of wavy sea and your drinking a long island cocktail or a mojito… Sounds great, right? But… what if it’s hot summer and scalding sun, but instead of sunny beach – you’re stuck in a stuffy office with broken air conditioning and instead of a calming view of the sea – your colleague’s bleary eyes from the heat, and the mojito is not an option Yike’s what a scenario. But, iced coffee is a pretty great alternative. If you start your working routine with iced coffee drink it will cool you down, give you lots of energy and you won’t be fired at the same time (What a concept!) By the way, it is easy to make it yourself.
The first thing you should know about iced coffee is that a perfect iced coffee is not a hot coffee cooled down with ice, but it’s a coffee infused in a cold water overnight. So, prepare the cold brew concentrate beforehand.
You will need:
- 1 pound ground coffee
- 8 quarts cold water
Mix ground coffee with water in a large container. Cover it then and leave to steep at room temperature for at least 8 hours. It’s more convenient to leave it overnight so that in the morning you have a ready-made concentrate for your delicious iced coffee drinks. In the morning pour coffee mixture through the cheesecloth or strainer and discard the grounds. Now it’s pretty easy to make different variations of coffee drinks.
