Being a woman and traveling alone can sometimes be a daunting task, even though it shouldn’t be. Constantly worrying about the safety level of the country you’re in can be a frustrating factor to deal with. But traveling solo can also help you conquer your fears and is a liberating experience. It’s important to get to know yourself, and to get out of your comfort zone. You’ll get to meet new people, and learn how to take care of yourself! This list proves that just because you’re a chick, doesn’t mean you need a chaperone to adventure around the world – so build your perfect vacation now!

1.New Zealand
This stunning country where “Lord Of The Rings” was filmed is pretty much built for traveling alone. The safety level is high, and it’s easy to get around. Oh, and it’s one of the most amazing landscapes in the world. The hostels here are also safe, and very welcoming if you’re looking to make new friends.

2. Hong Kong
If you’re looking for an urban adventure, this is the place for you! Absorb all of its sights, sounds, and smells, and with it, the rich history of china. It’s a hub like NYC but so much more diverse, and massive. You shouldn’t worry about people bothering you – it’s a big business hub, so most are there just doing their own thing. So eating dinner alone won’t be too awkward. The amazing shopping doesn’t hurt either.

3. Bohol, Philippines
Did you know that Filipinos are the happiest people in the world? That would make visiting it a priority, for sure! It’s home to the most conservative individuals in the Phillippines, making the nightlife pretty much non-existent. So if you’re a weary lady traveling solo, this is extra appealing. Check out Panglao Island for an unforgettable must-see.

4. Stockholm, Sweden
Sotckholm has steadily earned the title of the safety city in Europe, so it’s earned out trust. Bike along the city’s many cycling lanes and check out the historic zone with candy-colored homes, and the posh boutique neighborhood of Östermalm.

5. Costa Rica
This is actually the safest country in Central America, and you’ll never want to go back home after you experience these magical rain forests and the national parks. There are countless volcanos, coffee farms, and hot springs that are ideal for some deep self-reflection. Manuel Antonio National Park will have you in love with the wildlife, annd the beaches are so pristine.

6. Lisbon, Portugal
Lisbon is absolutely incredible, from the people, to the trams, to their sumptuous ‘pastel de nata’. The country is a great workout for fitness chicks, since the hilly landscape will make for some killer glutes and legs after your trip. The nightlife is’t overwhelming, and most restaurants have wi-fi, so you can do you. Don’t forget to try their famous cherry liquor “ginjinha”.

7. Berlin, Germany
Berlin is definitely the most effortlessly cool city of Europe. The clubs are amazing, safe and open-minded. In this free-spirited city which is easy to feel like you belong in, you don’t have to worry about being cornered in a dark alley after party hours, because it’s common for people to party in the daylight! You can drink in public, check out the historical district, and munch of hangover food without worrying about any shady business.

8. Helsinki, Finland
Helsinki has a relaxing vibe, and you can also swim naked without getting hassled- their indoor pools and saunas are separated by gender and is a place that women meet for a drink (served by women) and a sauna. The Finns are also known to be honest people – since the ’90’s they’re been the world’s least corrupt country. Enjoy the amazing architecture in Helsinki, with numerous Art Nouveau style buildings. It was picked as winner of World Design Capital in 2012, and it’s earned that title with its unique designs and structures.

9. Iceland
This might be the perfect place for first-time solo female travelers to tackle alone. The country is practically build on tourism, and tourists are treated incredibly well. Plus, signs everywhere so even the most disoriented will feel comfortable. The crime rate is extremely low and travel scams don’t exist over there. The country’s beauty is simply awe-inspiring and their hot springs are the perfect natural spa.
