Gigi Hadid is clearly in a sharing mood lately. Not too long ago we found out that the famous supermodel is pregnant and expecting a baby, which she shared about in an interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, but now she has graced her followers with a glimpse into her brand new apartment, which she decorated herself.
She shared a bunch of pictures of it on her Instagram and even posted a few videos in her stories, which, let’s be honest is as close as we’re gonna get to a personalised home tour from Gigi.
Gigi Hadid says she designed everything in her New York apartment herself, with an occasional pointer from her mother. She captioned the photos saying that she actually spent most of 2019 designing her new home. It was her passion project and she wanted to make it her dream home.
Unfortunately for Gigi, she didn’t get to move in right away, since the apartment got finished right around the time we all got hit with a worldwide Covid-19 pandemic and everyone went into quarantine. So Gigi chose to go and spend the quarantine with her mother and sister back at their family farm in Pennsylvania. I mean, can you blame her? Who’d want to spend months cooked up in an apartment, even if it’s a very nice apartment when you’ve got a farm.
But now that things are settling down a little bit in New York, and the cases seem to be going down, Gigi is super excited to actually be able to enjoy her beautiful new apartment. She said she’s super grateful to have this special little home that was created with the help of some of her creative friends who took on her seemingly crazy ideas and went along with her vision.
She also mentioned that her mother, Yolanda Hadid was of great help, serving as a sounding board for Gigi’s ideas and helping her weed out the interesting and unique ones from those that were too insane or ridiculous. Because we all need a mom who can reason with us and point out when we’re veering off into crazy territory.
In the end, as you can see from the photos Gigi share, her apartment turned out quite colorful and full of life. None of that minimalist and monochrome stuff we’ve come to expect from celebrities like Kim Kardashian. No, Gigi chose to fully embrace color and unique quirks. Her home is a unique blend of style and esthetics that are close to her heart and that showcase a lot of her interest.
As you can see the apartment features a lot of yellow and orange decorations, from couch pillows to paintings to a massive yellow pen next to the bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom, the walls in there are decorated with New Yorker magazine pages, which definitely brings the idea of reading in the bathroom to a whole new level. We also love the little Jean-Paul Gaultier throw pillow on the couch, such a small detail but such a fancy accent that speaks of Gigi’s taste in fashion.
We also noticed the irregular shaped art piece painting in the living room that was done by Austyn, definitely a big feature in the living room area. In fact, there are quite a few artsy things around the apartment and on the walls if you pay attention. We love the sign next to the bathroom that says that all types of people are welcome and safe in this place. It’s definitely something that shows Gigi’s views. We also noticed that the rug on the stairs is incredibly colorful and bright and it almost looks like each step is different. Same goes for Gigi’s kitchen cabinets that feature macaroni art (not edible) of a different color on each cabinet.
All in all the apartment gives off this feeling of being created specifically for Gigi, with her taste in mind and is meant to be her little corner of the world where she can chill and feel safe and at home.
