This Instagram is about to take your cake artistry wisdom to the next level, and also make you feel very bad about your poorly attempted Pinterest baked goods.
There’s always some new dessert trend on Instagram. But Elena Gnut really elevates the art of baking into… well, real art.
She transforms baked goods into incredible pop culture and fairy references, and remixes them into the most charming cakes ever, like this casual piece of Batman kicking back and reading a book.
Some of them aren’t pop culture works of art, but they are pretty cool and would make a gorgeous bachelorette or birthday cake. She’s not only great at painting, but the jagged edges against the round surface disk is so creative as well.
Or she casually recreates works of art, like this breathtaking black-and-white scene of cherubic angels in the sky. Now this could legitimately be a wedding cake. Are those real flowers or did she craft them with her magical hands as well?
The level of detail in this piece is absolutely amazing. She looks like an antique porcelain doll that’s worth a lot of money, but nope, she’s just made out of cake! We don’t know what monster would ruin this by eating it – look at those ruffles!
While this isn’t the most appetizing cake, it is magnificent and possibly more appropriate for Halloween, due to the whole rabid boar and mossy grass situation.
This looks like a diamond heart on the outside, in the most dazzling hue of millennial pink, but inside that delicate pink shell is a clean white filling and what looks like dried fruits in the middle. So creative.
We’ve seen our fair share of Little Mermaid cakes attempted for kids birthday parties, or adults with Peter Pan syndrome, but this periwinkle shell-encrusted cake with an oyster and pearl on top definitely takes the cake.
If high-end fashion and beauty companies are ever in the market for hiring a cake designer, they should definitely hire Elena, because these Chanel #5 creations are seriously beautiful.
Aw, interspecies romance! While the artist can do some really intricate works of art, we love that she also has a cute and quirky side that blends mediums and dimensions in an innovative way.
From the texture, this looks like a sponge cake, adorned in sparse macarons. This cake looks fluffy enough to lie on, and the coating texture, along with the ombre gradient, is flawless. And that bunny is extremely heart-melting to boot!
For those die-hard carnivores out there, we have something for you too. Not sure how well a blood steak goes with cake, but if that’s just delicious red icing, count us in. To some, disgusting. To others, this is food art at its finest.
