Planning a wedding this fall? Let’s face it: not everyone likes a traditional wedding with a lush white wedding dress, a big wedding cake with flowers, classic background music etc. Your wedding party may be a lot different. How about throwing an off-the-wall one on Halloween eve and make it the most discussed wedding of the century? (okay, some exaggerating here) Still, it will be an original, fun and exciting event for everyone attending.
Choosing a dress for a girl is an uneasy task. And when it comes to a wedding dress, that’s when a disaster happens. Luckily, we’ve already know the theme of the wedding. You dress doesn’t actually have to look spooky, zombie-themed with blood stains on it. You may go for a gorgeous gothic-style black dress creating a contrast with bridesmaids’ orange or red ones. Or switch the colors and choose a brighter dress.
The bouquet. It is important to make a contrast between your dress and a wedding bouquet. If you’re choosing a bright color dress – try to pick darker shades of flowers. Check out a bouquet made of midnight purple calla lilies. Spooky and elegant at the same time!
Another breathtaking idea: try a single dark red rose instead of bunch of small roses as a wedding bouquet. With a boutonniere in style, they both bring a touch of dark romance and look spooky enough.
For a creepier style, you may choose a dead white rose for your wedding flower. Made of pure silk, hand painted and wrapped in tattered cloth this “bouquet” will look extremely natural.
Bridesmaid Dresses. Try to follow the contrasts in choosing your dress and those of your bridesmaids. Your dress should stand out; after all it is your wedding! It’s better to choose plain colors for the bridesmaids dresses. Try black dresses with purple and white flowers – you will love this color scheme. Also, red shoes and rose bouquets will work well with black dresses.
Don’t be afraid to experiment and get crafty. Decorating is always fun. If you think you don’t need any designer’s help, try these interesting ideas. Carve pumpkins and apples, add some glitter. You can use a pumpkin for displaying wine bottles or snacks. Try floating candles around the place. It will surely make a great Halloween centerpiece. As for colors of the decorations and tableware – it would be extremely atmospheric to use dark shades, but try not to overload items with strong vibrant shades, don’t forget to include the lighter tones here.
Seasonal food. It is a very important detail, that will create a Halloween mood at your party. Use seasonal food not only for decorating the place, but also for snacks, main dishes and drinks: pumpkin or plum spiced cupcakes, cocktails, creepy cookies – all in orange, black and white colors. Food can also look spooky! Choose candies shaped like bones, little hearts made of cherries, panna cotta brains or snacks with a single seeing eye!
The cake. And the most yummy part of your creepy wedding. As I mentioned before, a wedding cake doesn’t have to be a traditional one with a white icing and pink roses. If you’re a fan of animated movies, Corpse bride Halloween wedding cake will fit you best! Check out Tim Burton inspired cakes and choose from different designs and color schemes. If you’re planning a more hardcore wedding party, include such elements as zombies, blood werewolves, Freddy Krueger (but don’t overdo!).
And here’s a cake you will fall in love with: fondant pumpkins with butter cream topsy tiers, gum paste leaves and funny wedding cake toppers. Enjoy your special day!
